American Inside Out

American Inside Out is a new course for teaching American English to adults and young adults. It offers comprehensive language development based on the latest classroom research.

Each level of American Inside Out includes:
  • An emphasis on speaking skills development through personalized activities that include time for students to prepare what they want to say and how to say it
  • Interesting and topical reading and listening texts that lead on to a wide variety of activities developing students’ grammatical framework and extending their vocabulary
  • A Workbook with reading and listening activities, grammar and vocabulary exercises, and work on pronunciation
  • An accessible and detailed Teacher’s Book with a Test Disk to facilitate evaluation


Features of American Inside Out are:
 

  • ‘Closed book’ activities, particularly at the start of each lesson
  • Tapescripts and answer keys within the teacher’s notes for that lesson
  • Suggestions for alternative procedures to cover different teaching situations such as large or small, monolingual or multilingual classes
  • Alternative personalized activities for more introverted students
  • Mini revision tests for each main unit, and mid- and end-of-course tests

  • Video Activity Books for intermediate, upperintermediate & advanced
  • DVD-ROMs The video footage for the upper three levels has now been issued on three DVD-ROMs, with the lower two levels coming in March 2005. PC users can access the material interactively, scrolling through the video script as they watch the video on their computer. They can copy and save words and expressions from the video script to an e-mailable notebook, and consult the online Macmillan American English Dictionary.
